Let’s talk about burnout, Yes it happens to all of us, and can literally feel like everything is a mess. This is the perfect tine to sit down and re-evaluate the things that are stressing you out the most and do something about it! We wear so many hats, career gal with a side hustle and a full time mom who wants to still make girlfriend time. It’s okay to freak out a little, we’re all A Fyn Mess. The hardest part is understanding its time to make a change and once you do that , it’s only up from there! So if you’re at the point of feeling overwhelmed and have no clue how to stay grounded, here are four quick tips to get the ball rolling again .
Four simple ways to stay grounded when life is pulling you around
Change the path
Sometimes the problem is with you feeling too comfortable or too stuck! For example, in college I spent time picking and switching my major 3 times and ultimately dropping out because I felt unsure of what I wanted to do in life.
I was so focused on what would make the most money and what kind of job I was likely to start a career from after college. I went from business to economics, to unknown.
But do you wanna know something? …. throughout that entire time, I was blogging and designing my blog and creating worksheets to organize myself so I could figure out better ways to organize my blog!
Crazy right? I was in school studying something I had zero passion for because people told me it’s what I should do, instead of listening to my gut and seeing what was right in front of me!
Eventually I has this moment where I decided I just want to start fresh!
So I started college from scratch studying design and graduated with 1st class honors and landed an awesome job in television BEFORE graduation!
My point is, if you don’t take the time to re-evaluate the things in life that are and are not making you happy, it can seriously effect you.
Changing my path definitely helped my stay grounded.
Seek out your squad
Okay so I talk about this all the time because I feel like it’s something highly important.
First of all let me say it’s totally okay not to have your squad yet. I’m 29 and I still haven’t found mine!
But that doesn’t mean I won’t ever find them . I consider my squad as someone or people who just get me, they understand what I’m going trough, we like the same things and we can call if we even need advice.
Having someone who can be there for you and truly help you in your time of need is important!
If I knew where to find these people I would have the list up here ASAP, however I can only suggest what has been suggested to me.
That is to go out and chat with people at the activities you go to. If you want to stay grounded here is what you can so.
When going to yoga or spin class, chat with the ladies there, you know you at least have ONE thing in common!
Redefine what it means to be balanced & stay grounded
Having a clear separation from work life and home life is usually the most popular option. However who said it as to be that way?
What can’t your friends be the people you work with?
Why can’t the work you do be something fun that doesn’t even feel like work?
It’s also good to make time to blend activities. I’m in a long distance relationship and we have to make time on the phone since we rarely see eachother.
This means that on my Long commute from work everyday I dedicate those two hours to talking to him and catching up on things. It’s actually the only time of the day where I’m sitting down with nothing to do. (except drive )
As soon as I get home I know I go right back into hectic mode and I’m sorting homework, cooking dinner , etc the list goes on.
Blending my time reduces my stress levels instead of me rushing in the evenings to finish my mom duties so I can dedicate two hours of free time to chat .. just isn’t ideal for my lifestyle!
So find what works for you and see what ways you can seamlessly blend parts of your life together to help you sanity!
Switch it up and Try something new
Is the anything you have thought about doing but don’t know where to start? If you even need to feel grounded, seriously try something new in your life. This can be something a simple as making a new recipe , or trying an online yoga class , or even taking an online course!
These little wins will give your self a great boost in pride and accomplishment!
You will truly feel like you were able to get your mind back on track and tackle something you always wanted to do!
