Brixton is an awesome area of London that over the years has been growing in popularity. From a housing market boom, to a must see tourist location. I Have taken a trip to brixton several times, and the best part by far is the unique Brixton Markets! It’s hands down a must visit location when you are taking a trip to London Here are five reasons why.
Brixton Markets is an easy Day Trip
Whether you live in London already or you are coming from somewhere else like Birmingham . Brixton markets are right outside the brixton Underground station. This means if you manage to grab a cheap coach or train ticket to London Euston or London Victoria, You are already on the Victoria underground line! It’s less than 15 mins away from both places! Sometimes it’s great to get your kids out for the day and experience something new. I recently look Mckenna and she found it to be a great experience. Let’s just say she couldn’t put her camera down.
You can experience a diverse range of cultured eats!
Try a classic European pizza, a classic Indian dish, Asia’s finest meals, Authentic South American Meals and of course my favourite, Caribbean food! I recommend visiting just before lunch time as it tends to get quite busy and most of the restaurants have little room as they are independently owned boutiques.
Hidden gem stores!
There are a ton of gift shops each with their own unique qualities for you to bring a piece of brixton home with you. I personally loved the store 20STOREY. It was by far at the top of my list . It featured tons of funny and Whitty nick knacks, gifts and activity books! I love a reason to craft and colour, and this store provided literally everything ! I was like a kid in a candy store!
Always buzzing with people!
This can either be a positive or a negative. I personally travel to London specifically to get the Culturally Diverse Buzzing atmosphere that I can’t get in Birmingham. It’s a unique feeling that I can’t get anywhere other than New York City. I love the busy lifestyle, and Brixton Markets is perfect for getting that rush of endorphins.
As I mentioned previously it’s easy to get to , but its also located right in the heart of brixton! If you want a full London shopping experience but find oxford Circus too overwhelming , i strongly suggest you opt for Brixton. It’s a long high street of popular stores like H&M, and amazing award winning restaurants! Let’s not for get the infamous ELECTRIC AVENUE!
So next time your thinking of taking a day trip somewhere DEFINITELY think about travelling to BRIXTON! You will get an experience like no other!
Mommy day trip essentials
When taking a day trips, us Mommys need to make sure we are prepared. Here’s what I always bring!
- A tote bag – Super versatile and easy to carry around, can sometimes be confused for a Mary Poppins bag.
- Travel mug – I have an endless supply of travel mugs . I always bring one everywhere because most coffeeshops will give you a discount on your coffee if you bring your own mug!
- A quality camera! This goes without saying but , if you like to capture memories (which i highly reccomend) invest in a quality camera that will last you all of your child’s upbringing.
