Welcome to Her Luxe Travels. A Single Mom travel blog that enjoys the Luxe in life! In honor of the first ever post, I wanted to share with you how I made the most of Disney world in 3 days!
This year My 5 year old and I were lucky enough to visit Disney World Florida twice this year ! Once in February (off season) and again in August (Peak Season). Although we went twice we had two very different experiences. I learned my lesson after spending a day in Magic Kingdom completely unprepared, and I wasted 60% of my valuable time in the park standing in lines and doing nothing. My August trip to Disney was booked and planned, with less than 2 days before actually travelling to Disney world. Yet my trip was successful in entertaining my Princess obsessed daughter, and also for myself.
Disney World Resorts | Where did I stay?
I stayed in the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort , Which I highly recommend! An exquisite amount of scenery, palm trees galore and a beautiful view of the lake. The resort offers a fantastic amount of amenities where you wouldn’t need to attend any parks if you just wanted a relaxing vacation. I however, had other plans, as i’m sure all moms can relate to a five year old, hungry for fun, games and action.
Single Mom #QUICK TIP – Rent a car from the airport to Disney for the duration of the stay.
Yes Disney provides a complimentary shuttle from the airport and within the resort. However when you are on a time constraint and want to fit in everything in your short 3 day trip, you don’t want the restriction of spending hours waiting for unreliable shuttles. It’s a complete waste of your day . If you have a car , you can drive to each park and also visit other resorts, at no parking cost to you .
Alternatively if you wan’t the complete no worries vacation , your next solution is to use UBER within the Walt Disney World!

Disney World Magic Kingdom | Day1 – Friday
We only spent half a day in magic kingdom since we visited this park earlier this year. We wanted to make sure that we did the things we missed out on last time. This was completely achievable in only half a day, I was satisfied and so was Mckenna.

Princess Fairytale Hall
First thing on the agenda was to visit her Fast Pass Princesses. Last time we came we didn’t utilize any fast passes and ended up waiting for 1 hour to see Tiana and Rapunzel. NEVER AGAIN will mama make that mistake! We head straight in saw princess Elena and Cinderella, then off to the next activity in under 10 mins! * Ps the actual meeting of each princess is less than 1 minute.
Prince Charming Regal Carousel
The carousel is located directly outside the Fairy tale princess hall, and is the perfect ride for moms who hate rides. I personally am over the entire thrilling ride experience and have no problem going on toddler friendly rides. It kept my daughter happy and she got to share a ride experience with me. This ride is PERFECT for grandparents too!
Dumbo the Flying Elephant | Storybook Circus
The first day was all about making sure my daughter had the most fun possible because I knew the next few days were going to include more activities for myself. I picked out rides that would keep the entertainment going without any stopping. From the carousel we went to the Storybook Circus. I picked this ride because it the perfect safe place for your child to let off some steam . As you walk in there is an indoor soft playground, which they give you a buzzer to time how long your child plays . It was a great place for her to meet other kids, hang out and run around as much as possible. Plus it had a section for parents to sit and watch comfortably. Once the time is up , you continue through the tent and outside to the ride. It’s a basic ride that goes up and down, providing just enough thrill for a toddler/child and next to zero effect on the parent. My perfect kind of ride!
Journey Of The Little Mermaid
This was a great filler ride that required no effort on my part. We got to sit down, while slowly being taken through the journey of the little mermaid ! My daughter loved it and the wait time was only 25 mins.
Move It Shake It Street Dance Party
This was by far the most entertaining family activity of the day. You get to meet some of the least desired Disney Characters, while learning new dance moves and interacting with the crowd. It’s definitely a lot of fun and worth attending if you’re in the park.
Storytime with Belle
This was a brilliant experience, I love this for the kids. My daughter dreams of becoming an actress, so this was her opportunity to shine. She roared at the chance to have the role of Beast. In which I feel she flourished (totally unbiased proud mama)
Each child auditions for a role in the story, then essentially acts out a mini play for the parents along with Belle herself. This is a great opportunity for your child to meet another princess, yet interact with other kids at the same time. We both enjoyed it and would recommend it for sure.
Tomorrowland Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
Honestly I wouldn’t recommend this unless you love dry humor and want to be picked on out of the audience for an unnecessary joke. We had a bit of time before our next fast pass activity and decided to attend this show. There was barely a line with a less than 20 min wait time. After watching, I completely understood why. Let’s just say it was not my cup of tea, my daughter continuously roared out a fake laugh because other people were laughing, not because she understood a single joke. Never the less, she found the experience of watching something on stage quite entertaining and it passed the time well.
This ride was Finally something I could get involved with an enjoy. Our last ride and fast pass of the night. We went on the ride at the start of the fireworks so it was great to see them while driving the car around the track. The cars are built so that the child can drive if you want, but there was no way id miss the opportunity to experience the ride. My daughter was a willing passenger, while I pretended to crash and bump into things to make the ride more entertaining for her. This line is long even with a fast pass, There is no way I would have gone on this ride without it.
Once Upon a Time Castle Projection Show
Have you really experienced Magic Kingdom if you haven’t watched the light show?
This is a great family activity for the end of the day as you wind down. Everyone found their spot on the ground, laid down blankets, grabbed their popcorn, and experienced the fantastic firework/light show.
Disney World Hollywood Studios | Day 2 – Saturday
Beauty And The Beast Live On Stage
This was by far the best use of a fast pass. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney movies, so seeing it come to life on stage was an unbelievable experience. We still had to wait 30 mins with use of the the fast pass so imagine not having one . We had a fantastic time singing along to the songs and just enjoying the show!
Disney Junior Live on Stage
This is a must do experience if you have a little one . Its a fantastic interactive show with all the Disney junior characters. Lots of singing , shouting and falling gold a blooms! (You’ll know what I mean when you visit)
The BIGGEST complaint I have is, the show is on a raised stage, and the audience must sit on the floor. As an adult its incredibly uncomfortable for me to sit primary school style, crossed legged on the floor . There are seats at the very back, no where near where your child would be sitting to see the show. To Make matters worse, they are constantly telling everyone to “move forwards, reduce the space in between us”. The space is limited as it is, I don’t need leg cramps thank you very much!
For the First time in forever Frozen Sing Along
This was our third fast pass choice. I love a good Theater show, which is what I thought we were getting. Right setting wrong experience. I assumed it would be another performance like beauty in the beast, but it was not. It was a TV screen showing clips of the movie with song lyrics on the screen. Most of the little kids were under 5 and could barely read. Not that they needed to be able to, i’m sure they have all seen the movie 10 million times already. They did however make it interactive by having falling snow (foam), and a few un-named characters talking to the audience, narrating the story in-between songs. We did also have a short cameo of Anna and Elsa at the end, although they were not the main focus of the performance. Overall it was fun, definitely enjoyable for a young child , not so much for the parents.
The remaining half of the day we spent enjoying the amenities at the resort . From dinner, to views of the lake, poolside relaxation and a movie on the lawn. It was a great opportunity for actual “holiday” time.
Disney World Animal Kingdom| Day 3 – Sunday
Please prepare yourself for this experience. We arrived as the park opened and there were people that had been waiting for hours already by the park gate. As soon as we got through the door everyone started running like their life depended on it to the entrance of this ride. Since there were no fast passes available we had to wait in line, AND YES WE WAITED 2 HOURS! BUT boy was it worth it ! It was the most incredible exhilarating experience you could have at Disney. There are no words to describe how amazing it was, it’s something you have to see for yourself!
The Lion King , Live on stage
Next we headed to the lion king show, in which we had fast passes for . It was a brilliant show , I actually became envious of the cast members. I remember leaving thinking wow they have the coolest job on the planet!
This is a great way to wind down and relax while enjoying the beauty of nature ! Honestly if I didn’t have a fast pass for this ride, no way would I stand in line for 40 mins. Never the less, we had fun and by this point we were ready to relax.

It was our last day so after this ride we had a quick look in the Rainforest Cafe shop, then head home!
How would I rate my experience? An 8/10
We had a ton of fun, it was worth the money, however I wish I spent more time enjoying the resort area rather than so much time in the parks!
Pin this infographic of Places to eat while in the parks!
Although there are many I recommend, these are the actual places I visited and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
